Cribbage Board 20 – Laminate
Board #20 was a return to an old process: I had a pile of beautiful scrap hardwood in small chunks, so why not laminate them into a bigger chunk and make a something nice out of it?
This one is walnut, padauk, bloodwood, purpleheart, ziricote, and maple — a true glarf of wood, all glued up under compression for void-free bonds.
It also steps away from the standard square form — I gave this one some curves.
The backside peg holder uses a pocket and magnets to hold the lid in place. Open it and you get a peek-a-boo of the laminate from the back.
Sanded to a high grit (smooth as a baby’s bottom) to bring out the figure, then finished with natural oil, a light sand, one more coat, and some hand rubbing. It catches your eye as you walk by — the different woods shifting in the light.
